Sharing Resources

At the start of class I chose National Black Child Institute to follow. I have not received a newsletter yet. I have explored the site and the only outside links that are there are to their sponsors such as Walmart and Mc Donald's. There is no link to past newsletters. I have learned nothing new from the web site. I honestly wish I had chosen another site.

  1. Chenieka,

I understand your frustration. I had to seek out several different associations as well. Have you tried, Save the Children or the World Forum? Maybe check those out as well so that you can find maybe what you are looking for. Also NAEYC has great information. Just a thought! : ) You are a smart person. I surf the net because there is so much information. The reason that the site might not have much is maybe because they are new? Maybe they are just organizing. Starting an association takes much work and commit and are usually run by volunteers.

    1. Tracy, I never thought to ask if we could change sites once we told Dr. Davis the site. I have learned a very good lesson from this. Always chose a few back ups.

  2. Chenieka, I visited the National Black Child Development Institute site and an initiative for early childhood education was dated June, 2011. The site does have updated information about black history. I looked at other links at received a message that the site is under construction. It was a great site to explore and I read and learned some interesting facts:

    1. Dana, I agree but the assignment was to explore areas we have not seen that could be related to our learnings this week. I found the Day in Black History interesting and some of the information I didn't know, I was just expecting them to have more information on educating young black children. Also those sites have been under construction since the start of class.
